9 goodgymers turned out on a very pleasant E3 evening to help make their community a better place. We were greeted at the charming Cranbrook Community Food Garden by the even more charming Janet and Eileen who divided us into 3 teams and got us to work.

Team AAJ (First-time goodgymer Anna, Jess and myself) were set up with 3 scary looking rakes and given the task of clearing every single leaf from the grassy areas inside the gates of the community centre. I was pictured in the act of one-hand-raking and enjoying a quick cuppa, while Jess and Anna remained focussed and did most of the hard work until there were no leaves in sight - mission accomplished.

Team BEK (Becky, Emma and Katie) did a great job of de-leaving the outskirts of the community centre. A task which Janet and Eileen had been waiting for the council to help out with for weeks and months... meaning they were especially grateful to this team.

Team BIM (Becs, Isabelle and Martin) built a couple of new trellises for the fruit and veg, for climbing plants such as tomatoes and grapes to cling on to as they grow. They made light work of this, had a cheeky taste of a couple of the tomatoes then joined Team AAJ to finish clearing (and playing with...) some leaves, boom.

A couple of shout outs:

  • Massive welcome to Anna who completed her first Goodgym task tonight - we look forward to seeing you again soon :)
  • Another warm TH welcome to Emma who bravely ventured North of the river via the Rotherhithe tunnel to her first TH task (usually Lewisham and Southwark) - thanks your help and company this evening!
  • It was also the first time I had met the great Katie who took a break from her amazing contributions in the coach visit world to join the rest of our team.

Thanks to everyone for your hard work tonight, I know Janet and Eileen absolutely love their goodgym visits and wanted me to pass on their immense gratitude for everything we have done to them so far.

Until next time, keep warm everyone!
