Much ado about GoodGym

This evening it was a great turn out on a somewhat fresh evening. Tonight we welcomed Emily to the group who came along with Tamsin to enjoy the love and laughter of GoodGym.

The other GoodGymers who rocked up to Splashpoint for some pre run catch up included Gill, Paul ,Barbara,Duncan, Michelle (with Romeo) Anne and our cover girl Belinda who proudly presented her in house work magazine in which was not only on the front page but also featured in a 4 page spread all about her volunteering including a variety of roles but largely featuring her heart warming and inspirational park run and GoodGym involvement. I read the article with great pride and appreciation that we have such an amazing friend to share our GG experiences with.

Our planned Steyne gardens task this evening had been re diverted to a patch of seafront garden next to the lifeboat memorial just opposite Coast Cafe . After togging up with headlights and gardening gloves the team headed out for a warm up run east along the seafront where we stopped for our first round of fitness exercises including inchworms and 20 burpees,

Challenging task as you like it

Following the warm up we headed back west for a short run to meet up with our friendly park ranger, Anthony who talked us through the gardening task in the community garden this evening.

At this point Gill and Belinda peeled off to head a bit further along the prom to our seafront flower bed to give it an Autumn tidy up ready for spring bulbs to be planted hopefully next Monday.

Back in the community garden Paul was busy with a saw giving a laburnum tree a much needed tidy up removing all the lower branches and generally reshaping the tree back to best again.

Tamsin,Duncan and Barbara raked the debris and weeds from the tall reed like grass. Anne , Emily set about the weeding and pushing the shingle back onto the beach whilst Michelle carried out some fine pruning on the tall spiky palm like shrub whose name I'm not sure about!

Where paw 'art though Romeo?

Special mention this evening to our new 4 legged friend Romeo who has recently been rescued from the streets of Romania to find his forever home with Michelle and watched over us carefully this evening.

With the seafront flower bed done and dusted together with the community garden speedily spruced up, we had a quick energetic (?) photo before giving Anthony a helping hand reloading the tools and bags into the van and heading off for our second run and fitness session

We could only dream of midsummers nights

We did reflect briefly on our mid summer dip this evening, Special pun reference to it this evening in keeping with the Shakespeare theme this evening that I'm sure you have all clocked by now ?!

Tonight we did a layered fitness session combining running with strength and cardio exercises. In keeping with our November challenge this was a fairly intense session challenging both our hearts and muscles to work harder and more efficiently.

We ran to the rocks and trees at Splashpoint where we did our first ever fitness session in March 2017 then to and around the pier a few times stopping for 5 rounds of inchworms , press ups and burpees with a bonus 10 burpees at the end. This totalled 110 in total in the group session together with any ones done previously in the day . Great job everyone! Only 4 more days to go!

All's well that ends well

We took a relaxed run back to the Leisure Centre where we stretched and chatted . Special mention to newbie Emily who did brilliantly today having come back to running after a long break. I thought I heard the words 'next week' mentioned ?!

Mac'beth come back to Worthing ?

So with some great socials in the planning will our legendary Beth make an appearance at parkrun drinks this Friday 1st December or at our Worthing Chritmas shindig on Tuesday 11th December ?!

Have a great week everyone

Love your fitness :)
