Report written by JP
It was a cool and slightly damp morning as a lucky 13 GoodGymers from four different areas gathered together on the Ham Lands for our monthly meeting with the Friends of Ham Lands.
The task this time involved raking up and clearing away the plant debris and digging up and removing a large number of stubborn roots in the ground. We spread out across the area in several smaller "bubbles" and got to work, and soon the place was busy with chatter and laughter as people caught up after a hard week at work.
The big yellow canvas bags soon started to fill up with the muddy fruits of our labour, and as there were only two between us we had to drag them around to different parts of the site, before emptying them in the trees - a great upper body work out!
Sufiyo had spotted some discarded wood slats so she co-opted Monika and JP to help clearing them up and leaving them for collection by the waste services. Why people think it's OK to dump rubbish in this way is truly baffling.
All in all it was another good session with the FOHL, looking forward to helping out again on the 14th November - link here to sign up! https://www.goodgym.org/happenings/helping-the-friends-of-ham-lands-4e5e62fe-368c-4752-ad62-55e4a19dccdb
