Sunday 15th December
Report written by Woking runner
This morning Kirsty and Nadia teamed up with the Woking Rotary Club as part of their Christmas collections. 💰 In the usual spot outside Waitrose, the team greeted shoppers with an interesting wardrobe featuring hats 🎅🏾, Xmas jumpers, tutus 💃🏻 and bells 🔔. Just what you need for a Sunday morning! 😅
To get the festive mood going we had a few classic Christmas songs before the speaker stopped working. However, as if by Christmas magic, all was well and the songs were playing again. We were trying to decide on the appropriate volume but then agreed the louder the better. 📢🎶 Kirsty and Nadia also jiggled about but that could have been for one of two reasons, the irresistible Christmas music or to keep warm. We’ll leave the guessing to you! As if we didn't have enough musical joy, we were even supported by Roy's grand-paw-son, Banjo, who had his very own outfit. 💚
There was some strategic placement to ensure maximum coverage and indeed we had people dropping in their generous donations by cash or contactless. As always things are well organised with the Rotary Club and we thoroughly enjoyed being part of their annual charity fundraising event. The Rotary club supports many local charities as well as international causes. Roy told us that the other event we were part of a few weeks ago at Woking fireworks had raised a great sum that had already been distributed back into the community for good causes. Well done Rotarians! 🙌🏼
It was a pleasure to team up with the Rotary Club again and more GoodGymers will be helping with future collections in this festive period.

Anne, I’ll be joining you on your shift next week. You’ll enjoy it, I bumped into so many people I knew and the Woking District Rotary Club are all very friendly and interesting. Well done, Alys for arranging this task.
