Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Kash
After a nice 2-person mission yesterday, today I was back to flying solo - but I had two missions for myself! The only problem was that I had over 1-hour lull between the tasks which were both very close to each other but too far from my HQ. The options were: a) getting more drenched (if it's possible) in South Ealing; b) running to Ealing Broadway, getting more drenched and sorting out the foodbank donation before next week. Any options that would have anything to do with having food or coffee and not getting more drenched somehow eluded my mind. So I chose b). But that's another story.
Back to South Ealing! Ms N wished me a Happy New Year and gave me the cash in an envelope as well as the shopping list. When I saw the "Sainsbury's malted biscuits" somehow I already knew I won't find them locally. And I was right - heck, I should be a seer! Without thinking too much I went to the big Sainsbury's in West Ealing. Again. I've been there on my previous mission today - but didn't predict the malted biscuits. Well, maybe being a seer is not my vocation after all.
I was able to get the malted biscuits and other missing items from the list in the big Sainsbury's. Still, there was one small problem: the fresh whole milk in two 2-pint containers. I could not even find it in a 4-pint container that was not crazy expensive! I decided to slowly walk back towards South Ealing and try the shops on my way there. I found the 4-pint whole milk in Tesco. Waiting with that milk in the queue to the till with a human cashier (only that one accepted cash) was surreal. The queue seemed to be frozen in time. After all my constant running around today, the static nature of that experience made me ponder upon the purpose of my existence. Luckily, having a couple of GoodGym missions to do today helped me snap out of it!
Ms N was very grateful for my help. Because I went further than usual to get her shopping done, I assured her that she didn't put me in any trouble - I am an expert in putting myself in trouble - besides, shopping is no trouble!
