A hardy crew of GG Yorkies braved -1°C for one last group run of 2017!

Wow, it's really chilly out there. Even Tim had leggings on tonight which is unheard of! Since Paul was the bravest and still in shorts, he led out the run to our friends at St Nicks.

We were met by Jonathan and Maria, who set us a speed challenge to dig up some small trees from one area and replant them in a new area of woodland they're developing. The guidelines were to keep as much root as possible and not to try to dig up enormous trees. Bev took this very literally and I found her gleefully hanging onto what can only be described as a long twig.

They did say small trees.. - Bev

The saplings were being piled up quickly, as the clay soil was easier for digging than we had envisaged. As we reached the end of the uprooting part of the task, it proved difficult to determine which ones we needed to take with us.

Is this a branch or a dug up tree?! - Leanne

We marched on to a new area, with spades and armfuls of teeny trees. We had five minutes to get new holes dug and all the trees planted. I stumbled upon the Griffins working exceptionally fast..

Not gona lie, we found a pre-dug hole - Nick

Challenge complete. We found a better lit spot under a lamppost for our group shot and Aron led us back to base (after we made him take all the spades back in the wheelbarrow). Nick back-marked as our official santa, with a beard and everything.

As it was the last group run of the year, I'd planned a very special festive fitness session.

Egg's 12 days of Christmas!

On the 12th day of Christmas my trainer gave to me...

  • 12 mountain climbers
  • 11 can-can kicks
  • 10 forward lunges
  • 9 hula hip swings
  • 8 army sit ups
  • 7 jumping jacks
  • 6 high fives
  • 5 burrrpeeeeees
  • 4 reverse lunges
  • 3 press ups
  • 2 jumping squats
  • and a 20 second plank on kneees!

It was a tough one. If you want to see what the end of that looked like in fast motion.. you can see it here (including Paul's amazing reaction at the end!)

My beard went in my mouth during burpees! - Nick

It's been an absolutely brilliant first year for GoodGym York - see you all bright and early in 2018!
