3 GG Yorkies cycled to help at the Foxwood Hub surplus food distribution project.

On a sunny Friday morning Nikki, Richard and Michal stepped in to help at the local surplus food distribution project, while its organiser Kerry was taking a well-deserved day off.

Nicola and Richard started with setting the tables and taking crates with various foods out from the hall while Michal set up the waiting and sign in station.

With around 10 socially distanced folks waiting at the gate we opened up the just before 9:30am.

Prevent food from going to landfill and give people a chance for social interaction is our aim - Hub volunteer

Over the next hour and half we engaged in friendly chats and tried to upsell tomatoes and bakery products which have been donated in plenty this week.

44 people came along and left home with full bags, but there was still quite a lot of food remaining. The remaining goods will be distributed locally by the nightfall we were assured by the Hub volunteers.

By 11am the tables were folded, crates brought back to the hall, fridge moved in preparation for the kitchen refurbishment and tomato jenga put together.
