Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Vicky Hearson (she/her)
At 6.55pm there was only Ellie and myself at Park Grove to paint the bench. For a moment I wondered if the double had finally broken good gym, but oh no! At bang on 7 o’clock another 17 Goodgymers came running out of nowhere, still full of enthusiasm and energy and ready to tackle the long list of jobs that were waiting!
A few select artists began work on the bench whilst everyone else headed back outside.
Two big piles of rubbish were quickly moved to the skip, then we headed to the deep dark wooded area to move branches.
It’s a moving bush!!.. Hang on, no it’s only Mitch carrying a pile of branches bigger than himself
Another team set about moving a pile of woodchip from one end of the school to the forest school area. With only two wheelbarrows they improvised with an old sand tray, buckets and trugs, and made a big dent in the pile.
Back at the skip... no one said stop so we kept on going until it was almost the height of the school! Nothing some ropes and excitable Goodgymers can’t sort. Plans were discussed when Gary the site manager chipped in “we won’t overthink this now”. After tugging and tossing (the ropes) the pile was suitably reduced and we all headed in for a group photo.
Well done to Ed who is so close to 50 good deeds and has done 17 in 17 days! All worth it I’m sure as he can now bask in the glory of beating Craig at the social tomorrow!
Off home now, but not before a quick spin around the yard in the wheelbarrow for Mitch, and a human barricade to stop Egg and Leanne driving off (I assume in protest as they hadn’t run!)
Thank you again Goodgym from Park Grove.
