Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
On Tuesday we ran out of central Bristol along a busy road called the Portway, which runs alongside the River Avon. We met up with a chap called Mark who warned us not to slip and slide in to the river (although if you did, apparently you should just go with the flow) and got gloved up in readiness to pick up loads of litter that the river deposits at high tide. But first we had to get to it – there was a wall and a drop to the river bank to be overcome. Several brave souls clambered down a sign post whilst others went further down the bank to a raised patch, and we all made it down safely. Amongst the hoard of litter we gathered, we found traffic cones (some too entrenched in the mud to remove without industrial equipment), a boot, a jerry can of some odd liquid, bottles, cans, tins, and a basketball which was sadly deflated. After piling our findings up at the side of the path, we jogged back in to the centre where we did a quick mini-circuit of tricep dips, lunges and press ups, and a few commando crawl planks too. We got lucky with the weather – rain had been promised but fortunately we escaped un-soaked. Thanks for coming, gang!
