Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
21 Runners ran to shift 400kg of food and clear an empty plot on Somerletyton road (and it was hot).
Somerletyton Road Report - 5k
Opting for an epic 800m run to Somerlerleyton road our gang of 10 hit the streets confident we could make it.
When we arrived we were greeted by Sam who told us about the pallets that needed shifting and the ground the needed clearing.
"banging on about health and safety"
Ivo roamed about banging on about health and safety (he loves it) and hates it when people step on rusty nails (which, to his delight no-one did).
45 minutes later, pallets had been broken down, empty plots were cleared and 9 bags of rubbish filled. The place is looking amazing; front garden fixed up, Blockworkout fully installed and plans for the next few months ready to go.
Foodbank Report - 8k
It wasn't hard to find the motivation to run tonight. Not hard at all. A beautiful summer's evening, and our group of 11 heading 4km down to the food bank in Vauxhall.
"quaffing cold ciders"
The easy pace there gave us lots of opportunity to observe the early evening drinkers sat outside pubs quaffing cold ciders. It's funny how quick a run can go when spend the duration comparing notes on your favourite summer tipples. I've picked up some good recommendations.
Faith met us at the food bank and we gave ourselves a 20 minute challenge to weigh, sort and then stack what felt like a ton of tinned food. Separating spaghetti hoops from baked beans is tough under pressure. Extremely satisfying though and done well within our 20 minute window. A win.
We headed back a little quicker, even throwing in a sprint finish, helped along by the cheers from some enthusiastic onlookers waiting for a bus.
"pomegranate cider"
A little stretch with Ivo and the sun still shining we headed home.... Or off to find that pomegranate cider. It really is as good as they said, and even better knowing we've earned it.
