Report written by Cat
Five volunteers spread the word about Heritage England’s Dinosaur Days event on 9 and 10 September by delivering flyers to houses around Crystal Palace Park. TaskForce members Hannah, Nick, Mark and Cat were joined by Angela, who was completing her second GG mission. Welcome Angela :) Between the five of us we delivered almost 500 flyers in just over an hour and made some furry friends along the way. We also spotted a lost dino toy at one of our flyering locations which felt like fate and spurred us on. T-rexcellent work team!
Friends of Crystal Palace Dinosaurs works with Bromley council to make sure the Dinosaur statues in Crystal Palace Park are conserved and the area around them well-maintained. We also do public engagement work to help the public connect with the statues, and understand their place in the history of science, local area history, and palaeontology. We are currently crowdfunding a permanent bridge over to Dinosaur Island in the CP Park lake (where most of the statues are found) which will enable us to run more tours, and to carry out conservation work on the statues and gardening on the island.
