Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
15 runners ran with straight backs, heading 7k straight up north to Vauxhall Foodbank to shift 350kg of food.
This was my last run before Rebecca takes the reigns of GoodGym Lambeth. We were making our monthly visit to sort food for Vauxhall foodbank.
We talked at length about running related injuries (woo hoo!) before the excellent half marathon don James led the group with Becca and Katie back marking.
"stunning views of Kennington Tube station"
In a shake up from routine, we took the famous Kennington route there, taking in stunning views of Kennington Tube station and going pretty close to a place where they play cricket; a sport involving some running every now and then.
We were focusing on posture. Standing up straight is important if you're going to get the most out of your lungs and to run efficiently.
"get the most out of your lungs"
We arrived and were briefed on the food task by the ever enthusiastic Faith. She's great. Then we set out weighing and sorting the food by type. Plenty of rice pudding a bit of coffee, loads of soup, and quite a lot of tinned fruit. Makes you quite hungry.
We managed 35kg of food in 23 minutes. Giving a kg per person per minute of 1.01.
That's 1.01kgpppm. Time starts from when we enter the building to when the last crate is stacked.
That's 1.01kgpppm
Please remember this for next time.
On the way back we were in pairs. Looking again at posture. Trying to keep those heads high and not slumping. Do the same on any runs you're doing this week: ask someone, perhaps towards the end of your run, how's my posture, and see what they say. Your torso should be nice and straight without too much forward lean.
Next week, Rebecca starts. We'll be heading to old friends at Myatt's Fields. It's going to be good. Come and give her a good welcome on her first run in charge.
