Indian Summer on a 'delightful' evening
On a glorious September evening 9 of us met at our alternative meeting point at Worthing Leisure Centre for a bit of catch up and GG banter. Following this ,Gill, Anne, Michelle, Sue , Belinda, Barbara, Lucy and Duncan set off on a short warm up run to Kamelia Day Nursery that specialises in all aspects of baby and childcare including special needs. As we ran we thoroughly enjoyed the last rays and warmth of summer evenings.
Power Ranger
We were met by caretaker Andy and his extremely powerful power strimmer. Our task for this evening was to clear up all the hedge and foliage trimmings that he had created by pruning a large hedge which stretched along and around the circumference of the nursery grounds. Although not a strenuous task this evening our help was very much appreciated and valued by all at Kamelia.
When we had caught up Andy on clearing his cuttings there was no standing idle ! Most of the group set off for a speedy run around the block whilst others may have pretended to look busy!
With some entertaining photos and grateful thanks form Andy the group set off on the remainder of the evenings run.
Injured soldiers
With Duncan suffering with severe toothache he decided to run directly back to base with nurse Lucy in close pursuit to give him some TLC and possibly administer some prescription directly alcohol onto his rogue tooth.
The group ran down to Goring Gap where after some shuttle sprints along the grass together with burpees , squats, press up and core work the 2nd injured soldier succumbed to a run back to base. Barbara , suffering with her foot following her epic Great North Run was the 2nd GG runner down.
Gill who was already on her bike after some hefty weekend training was the third to succumb and headed directly home ( stopping for some great photos on the way) Suddenly the group had dwindled to 6 including me.
Empire of the run
With fitness and a scenic sunset run back to base via the stunning seafront wild flowers that we planted in May another GG evening wound up with stretches and a bit of chat.
Social news
Next week we are meeting back at Splashpoint LC and after the task we are planning a treat ( bribe) of a fish and chip finish. All welcome at at 7:45pm at Chipwick just east of Splashpoint LC at 94 Brighton Road.
Look out for info and a doodle poll coming your way from Belinda about our Christmas get together at Komedia in Brighton. This promises to be a fantastic fun evening filled with comic personalities from both professional and GG background. More details to follow
Have a great week everyone
Love your running :) :) :)
