TWO intrepid teams of GG Yorkies ran across York to complete a terrific TWO good deeds!!

We were celebrating this evening. Celebrating the 30th birthday of one of our wonderful run leaders, Amazing Aron - so make sure you give him a big birthday cheer. Whilst you're there, give Lisa a big cheer too because she came along to her first ever run with the GoodGym family.

We also had a little celebration for my completing my 100th good deed last week - hurrah!

With Paul and Nick taking the 7km group to a massive clearance job at Foxwood Community Centre, Leanne, Aron and myself took the 2km group over to Holgate, to help the Poppy Road Poppy Project.

Apparently Nick's headtorch was the best and he looked like Blackpool Illuminations, perfect for a back marker so nobody could lose him. Team Foxwood had to clear a huge section of bushes and green matter from the back of the community centre and this all started with Carl breaking a hoe. First run back for ages and already breaking stuff! Luckily there were loads more and the rest of the task was plain sailing.

Meanwhile, team Holgate, also known as Aron's Angels had to rake and clear piles of grass from the wildflower meadow, shifting it all into the borders and up against the wall where it could rot away. There was a bit of unspoken competition as people were carrying bigger and bigger piles of grass.

That's the biggest one I've seen all night! - Karen

Over in Holgate we finished the task in 22 minutes, leaving loads of time for a very special 30-themed workout. We had 30 second sprints, 30 second HIIT drills, 30 rep team challenges and a 30 exercise Mexican wave. Phew!

With both teams safely back at base, we continued the celebrations at Brigantes, lovely to see a great turnout for a pub-run social too.
