Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Sevan
For their one and only mission of the day, Kash and Sevan ran 8.5km out to Belsize Park to help Ms L declutter. Their 14:00 service was delayed by a few minutes due to a few wrong turns on the way. Nevertheless, Ms L was happy to see them and the delay hadn't turned her into a frustrated commuter.
The final destination of the train was Paperwork Organisation, deciding what was important to keep and what to discard. When Kash and Sevan pulled in to into the Living Room the floor was relatively clear, then every other surface was piled high with belongings like the Lost & Found office at Transport for London. We moved through to the Kitchen Station where the work surfaces were equally busy except for the dining table which had only 2 boxes, one full of files and the other empty.
At this point, one of the train drivers made a bold statement. "The filing looks like a one person job. Is there anything else the other GoodGymer can do to help you?" Ms L thought about it, then threw a freezer shaped obstruction onto the line.
Moving her full height freezer required 2 strong men according to Ms L. It was currently located just inside the Kitchen Station and needed to be moved to the Living Room, passing through a narrow doorway in its path. It also needed to be lifted to get over the skirting board in the doorway. Kash loves a challenge so said that the 2 train drivers could do this by themselves despite not being 2 strong men. They put their train in reverse from Kitchen Station and after a couple of aborted attempts, they delivered the freezer to its new location.
Now the route to Paperwork Organisation was clear... until Ms L flagged the train down again in Kitchen Station. After the freezer had been moved, the dining table in Kitchen Station could be extended to seat more waiting passengers and this had become the new priority. Kash and Sevan stopped the train again, worked out the expanding table and once more set their target to Paperwork Organisation.
Third time lucky, Kash and Sevan started to make progress on the paperwork, getting closer to the terminating station by prioritising Ms L's financial and medical documents, plus those relating to her hobbies. Their only distraction was finding some butterfly stickers in the paperwork which Sevan was asked to decorate the bathroom compartment with, but he put them in the wrong place causing Ms L to leap up and sprint to remove them.
With the train's journey to Paperwork Organisation complete, Kash and Sevan left Ms L's house and looked to find their own ways home. They found that going back on foot was just as fast as taking the tube, so they threw their drivers uniforms in the bushes and ran all the way back to Ealing.
