SESSION ORGANISER
Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Portsmouth runner
For the afternoon session, we were joined by Eli a fellow Goodgym volunteer who has been a member of Goodgym since just before Christmas, but this was her very first Mission. It was lovely to welcome her and after she’d had her covid test and induction, she quickly got stuck in, allowing those of us who were due a lunch break, the time to sit down and relax for a time. The job roles continued as for the morning, with the same rotations, but this time, we got to use the walkie talkies, which I absolutely loved. We had more peaks of busyness and less busyness in the afternoon due mostly to people arriving early for their appointments, which had the added benefit of giving us volunteers time to take a breather and have a cuppa which was great. Before leaving for the day, I wanted to check what the daily target number of vaccinations were and the magic number was 300 which had been achieved already on Saturday and again Sunday. They hope to achieve this number each day where possible. Several very lovely comments from patients on how well it had gone was testament to the hard work everyone at the surgery had put in to keep things running smoothly. It was great to be involved in something so momentous, with the vaccine giving light at the end of a very long covid tunnel.
