17 awesome runners ran 4km to help out at More 2 Childcare!
We had a wonderful flurry of new runners last night thanks to Carla who brought 4 of her co-workers (Warren, Dave, Beth and Julie!) after visiting GG Lewisham on Monday! Nice one Carla! We also had new runner Alice join the gang, who will be running her first marathon in Edinburgh in May! Hope you all had a great first run with us!
We started off with a warm up and a little game which basically involved everyone crawling around on the ground and chasing each other and tagging hands, it was a hilarious sight! After a few mins, we set off, through the park for the first time this year :) The sun was setting behind us and it looked lovely! We dropped down Maze Hill side and along Trafalgar Road arriving at More 2 Childcare a few minutes later.
There was loads of stuff to do and everyone got stuck in. The main job was getting some soil around the play area and then laying down some bark over the top of it. There were also chairs and toys that needed cleaning, the outside needed a sweep, the bathroom needed a clean and some furniture needed to be built.
After 15 minutes it was all looking good outside, the soil was down and had been raked ever so professionally by Ben and Matt. Time for the bark to go on! Everything was looking good inside, the miniature bathroom was sparkly clean and everyone was working their way through scrubbing the chairs!
A further 10 minutes later and we were done! A group photo by the tree and then we headed back. We went along the river and managed to temporarily recruit a group of about 8 kids. One of them couldn't have been much older than 6, he was TINY and very nearly stacked it straight into a lamppost! But thankfully he didn't and we managed to outrun them in the end!
Time trial!
It was time for our 1km TT. For those who were recording the run on Strava, here is the official segment. Congratulations to Rob and Amy who set new mens and womens course records! We cheered everyone in, had a stretch and called it a night!
If there are any keen writers out there who fancy writing the run report then please let me know! Would be great to get more of you involved :)
Well done last night everyone! Great job on the task, thanks for getting so stuck in, we got so much done and the ladies at More 2 were so pleased! See you next week for a new task at St Marks!
