Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by York runner
Six GoodGym Yorkies returned to Mr J's to continue last weekend's work clearing a large and very overgrown back garden. Myself and Lindsay moved an old garden swing seat and cleared an area next to the one that had been cleared last weekend. Unfortunately we both didn't see the bird feeders above our heads and consequently got hair full of bird seed! We then moved another old garden seat and cleared that bit to reveal a nice patio area.
Meanwhile, Katie was continuing to clear the weeds from the path and collecting various garden ornaments that had been hidden.
Nick and Tim got stuck in with the very overgrown section towards the back , hacking back brambles and more brambles. Tim found the 'bramble mother' as it was so huge (the mother of all brambles). Tim said "I could really do with a rake" and seconds later Nick dug one out of the brambles as if by magic! "We must be in the Enchanted Forest" said Tim. Unfortunately Tim broke the rake a little while later and said he could do with another one. Amazingly Nick did then find a second rake, along with an old parasol. "This really is like the enchanted forest - ask and ye shall receive!" Tim said. So Nick tried asking for £100 but sadly no money appeared.
Nick was working his way around towards Vicky who was attacking yet more brambles but from a different direction. After an hour and a half they finally met and had a handshake across the great brambly divide. With that, we decided to call it a day as the light was starting to fade. A quick selfie and we went our separate ways.
