There was someone looking a bit muddy trying to hack a partial tree trunk with a spade. It was probably Miss L. As Kash and Sevan rang the bell, she introduced herself and explained that the plastic membrane she wanted to lay on the soil in the front garden, today's mission, hadn't arrived yet.

Leading the pair into the back garden, Miss L said that there was also a membrane there with stones on it that could perhaps be moved to the front. Checking it out, there was a layer of pebbles at least 5cm deep, which'd need to be removed, then added back onto the relocated barrier. That wasn't a 90 minute job 😕

Miss L thought about it, then had another option

"Do you know how to repot a plant?" - Miss L
"We know how to move them and can try to get them out of the pot" - Sevan

That, it seemed, was good enough for Miss L. Kash and Sevan carried a yucca along the side of the house and up a set of stairs to the front garden.

The plant looked pot bound, with Kash, Sevan and Miss L trying to:

  • Jolt it
  • Slice it
  • Scoop it
  • Shake it

...without any joy. Who did those yuccas think they are?! Not only that, they duplicated, with a second pot appearing in the front garden. Miss L explained that she'd moved it herself, which had not been good for her back 🥺?

Finally, one plant was freed. Miss L showed her repotting technique, slicing the outer roots and removing some of the old soil. Once the second pot had been released from the plant, Kash turned her hand to repotting, wielding Miss L's pointy toothed knife to do the slicing herself.

"That's lovely how you've done that. You're like a proper ninja" - Miss L

Kash then got a bit too enthusiastic, leading Miss L to say "Stop right now!", that was enough. It was time to get the plants back in the pots and placed in the garden. Sevan poured a bag of compost around the repotted plants while Kash and Miss L distributed soil.

With the repotting complete, Miss L wanted them placed in her front garden. The only problem was that there was no direct access from the front path. Kash lifted each pot up onto the dividing wall, with Kash and Sevan dropping them off the wall together and moving them into place.

Miss L was super happy with what was achieved. Job done
