Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Eva Sharpe
Three of east London's finest met on a Saturday afternoon to clear the garden for Mrs F.
Mrs F is a spritely 100 years old! (I wonder if she was given a pair of wings to celebrate?) She hasn't been able to get into her garden and it had become so overgrown that she could no longer open her kitchen door or windows which was making cooking tricky.
Local TaskForce members Clair, Peter and Eva went along to clear the garden so that she can use her kitchen again.
Her niece was there to meet us and help us get the door open, and the first thing we noticed was that there were snails everywhere! And anything you put down for a moment was immediately covered in snails!
Clair had the sharpest clippers, so set to work cutting back the overgrown trees, while Peter climbed up cut back the ivy that was obscuring the window and blocking her drains. Eva set to work pulling up the carpet of ivy. While the girls finished the back garden, Peter also trimmed the front hedge which was starting to block the pavement.
After two hours of heavy duty weeding, they carried out one brown wheely bin and five garden waste sacks and had filled two large compost heaps. The garden was much clearer, feeling much lighter and brighter, and Mrs F could open the windows and doors so can get back to cooking again. What a feat at 100!

It's the Hackney dream team (minus Peter of course...he's ours). ONE HUNDRED YEARS OLD?! That's what missions are all about. Great photos and report, Eva!

Love this and what a team! You're also the tree (Irish three) musketeers! Also wondering if 100 makes her older than you three combined? Must be close!
