Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Aimee (she/her)
I was a little late so Andrew and Emily were already at busy at work at St Lawrence Park. This months task were edging the path and digging and turning over an overgrown flowerbed.
I got stuck in with the others edging on overgrown path to get rid of over grown grass taking over the path and make it easier to use. Mike, the task owner, give it a blower with his leave blower which made it look so much neater. Once this was finished we moved the on to digging an overgrown flowerbed and turning the soil over. ready for planting
We had our usual tea break mid way through the task complete with half-coated digestives and a chat about the amount of people killed hang gliding.
We finished digging as much of the flower bed as we could in the time left. Maybe we will come back and finish it on a another community mission.
It is really nice seeing the work we have done on other missions come together, the parking is easier to see into now due to the working we have done pruning and crowning the trees, the football pinch we dig the grasses from the sides now has fresh lines, the flowerbeds we have planted have bloomed and the raised planter vegetable box we put in have vegetables growing in it.
It you want to get involved in helping out with Newcastle parks we are back at St Lawernce and Harbottle Park in three week time! Tomorrow is at City Stadium instead of the usually Harbottle park.
There’s a greener side to our city. A vibrant, more open side. It should be celebrated, Nurtured, Enjoyed by everyone. Our allotments and parks are the lungs of our city. We’re here to breathe new life into them. We are Urban Green Newcastle.
