Somewhat conveniently I found myself near Mrs H's home after finishing an earlier mission, so we socially distanced on her front step to take down this week's list -a far better method than trying to distinguish over the phone between pitta and pizza (it's an easy mistake...).

No queue at Morrisons, that was a first - armed with Mrs H's list, some reusable shopping bags, her points card and a certain familiarity with the branch it was then a question of finding the items and staying within budget before the threatening skies outside transformed this part of Hackney into Waterworld.

Let down only by a shortage of avocados and excluding some of the non essentials to stay within limits, list complete and it was back to Mrs H's to hand over the bags - we had another good catch up on all things East London, and she even showed me two really great photographs of when she met Princess Diana back in the 1980s nearby - some things you truly never expect to see on a shopping mission.

(On the walk back to my bike, I passed a still closed Chinese restaurant that had a small collection of Maneki-neko (aka the beckoning or waving cat) in the window - thought to bring good fortune to the owner, one can only hope they'll be working their magic very soon on all the shops and restaurants round here!)
