Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Karolina
There is something very special about good gym missions and this was definitely up there! And it was not the before and after result, but the amazing and connecting conversations Good Gymmers have with people they visit.
Mr L's garden was pretty green but in need of TLC due to her poor health with very worrying prognosis. And so Karolina and Mrs L chatted about life, how we all fall apart and pick ourselves again, and how doing things for others, preferably together, is the best cure. Mrs L, before she fell ill, used to knit hats for homeless folk in Cardiff, building community gardens and helping young people find home.
With that in mind, Mrs L joined Karolina in clearing the garden, weeding, sweeping and even, putting garden furniture! I once finished they chatted about plans for the garden, the importance of wild flowers and dreadful fake lawns and weedkillers!
It was an incredible team work which both were happy with, and which came as a blessing to both on this particular day. But, given what Mrs L was going through, Karolina concluded Mrs L she was the inspiration, the super trooper never giving up and showing Karolina there is always hope.
They ended the task on a high realising how important it was to start something that seemed so overwhelming. Mrs L thanked Karolina for being part of her life albeit just for a short while and hoped they see each other for the second session. And that's exactly how Karolina felt about this session and with a heavy heart and a bit more hope, she said goodbye and cycled off.
There is always hope, even in the darkness and among so much suffering in this world. There is always hope.
