What a beautiful day”.

And it was. “Was” being the operative word.

We were at Ms K’s to complete the mission that was started last week, and our task was to bag up the giant mound of cuttings that we didn’t have strong enough bags for last week. Ms K’s daughter had very helpfully bought some extra-strong green bags that were much more thistle- and bramble-proof.

We got cracking on bagging up the thistles, brambles and grasses that lay waiting. Unfortunately the thistles hadn’t become less prickly over the course of the week as hoped, so we used the strategy of picking them up using secateurs - what prickly characters they were.

I think this will be the last bag”,...

...we kept saying to each other, convinced that surely one more bag would do the job. And another. And another. And just one more...

Determined not to leave a task incomplete, we also pulled up the remaining grasses and revealed the paved path that lay hidden beneath all the brambles and grasses.

Just one more bag and we were done, and ready for the Green Bag Relay of carrying each bag to the front.

And as the relay commenced, the heavens opened, quickly becoming torrential downpours and an utter deluge. We bid Ms K a rainy farewell and got 100% completely and utterly drenched on our journeys home.

Hot chocolate and drying off time now - and of course the sun’s come out again 🤦‍♀️
