It was a very windy Sunday morning and we headed to Hodgkin Park to help Urban Green with the park maintenance.

Today we were at the lower park area to tackle a lot of overgrowth. Mike warned me that the shrubs were Pyracantra, which literally translates to Fire thorns, and they are really prickly. I actually googled pyracantha, so I'd remember the name, and it turns out it is a very pretty evergreen plant with loads of white flowers and red berries. It just really really doesn't want to be eaten!!

We managed to clear off about half of the overgrowth and I got loads of scratches off the really fiery Fire thorns. We also cleared off some of the grass around the area. We will be there at Hodgkin in 3 weeks time to clear off the rest.
