We were back at Blondin Park today, where we were met by local volunteer Linda, who is helping to coordinate the work that needs to be done to the park before a pavilion can be built. There are grand plans for the pavilion - many activities will be run from there and they hope to have local people with disabilities helping with those.
We were asked to shift soil from one location to another and so we set to work. Liv, Bernice and myself first loosened up the soil which had hardened in the sun, then used spades to throw it into wheelbarrows, before moving it down the field to the new location. Mike, Millie and her adorable Dachshund filled in an old sandy spot with new sand and soil too.
It was a good all-round core workout - especially when we accidentally overfilled the wheelbarrows! - and the weather was perfect. We made a dent into the original pile of soil but more work needs to be done, so we look forward to going back and continuing the tasks.
