Report written by York runner
After a day where the rain seemed like it would never stop the GoodGym gods smiled upon us and the wet weather stayed away just long enough for 19 hardy souls to jog out to Millenium Fields.
We welcomed Daniel to his very first GG session - he said he didn't do much running but was soon at the front of the group looking like he will do pretty well in the York 10k on Sunday!
There was no Nicky so Nick led us to meet Nicola from St Nicks!
We split into 3 teams - Team Scythe quickly got to work slicing through the all grasses but making sure not to cut the Tansy and Teasels. Max maintained his reputation for recklessness
I have realised that if you rub your hand on the blade like this it's actually quite sharp!
Team Tarp were raking and pitchforking all the cut grass onto the tarps to be dragged up to the compost heaps where Team Muck were getting pretty filthy. They were under strict instructions to dig out the mud and rotted compost from the bins and layer up a nice Compost Tiramisu of mud and grass layers.
There was a lot of excitement when Nicola showed us a colony of beautiful iridescent Tansy Beetles who have created a Tansy outpost on Millenium Fields and we were soon done for the day.
We had a quick fitness session on the Outdoor Gym with some box jumps, step ups, press ups, tricep dips and rather a lot of quite acrobatic dangling around before it was time to trot back to base the long way round.
You're a slave driver! Leanne
Congratulations to Michael who had no idea he had completed his 100th good deed but seemed very happy to wear the 100 cape in the pub afterwards - I think he may still be wearing it!
