Report written by Anastasia Hancock (she/her)
What better way to spend a Sunday lunchtime than running round Chiswick picking up litter? While the rest of London were out getting coffee and preparing their roast dinners, seven GoodGymers were keen to make a difference, and met outside Chiswick Town Hall for a fitness and blogging session.
So we set off in the direction of Turnham Green, each armed with two bin bags (slightly smaller than I had expected, sorry about that!), dividing up into teams to tackle the area. Just over ten minutes later, we had not only collected loads of rubbish, but Samia had also managed to find half a bike wheel (and clearly with an eye for transport related equipment, later on also collected a hubcap!) while Karen even spotted a fiver which she is kindly going to donate to charity!
As a group we ran down to the back common along the high street, collecting yet more discarded plastic, cups and bottles, and then did a blitz of the common too. OK, it may have been not quite been the starter session that it was billed as, but with no less than twenty bags of rubbish collected a lot of good was done, and that's what counts! Amazing work team.
We just had time to knock out a bit of conditioning with a targeted conditioning session - it turns out that glute bridges are most popular, while squats are not so hot - before running back to the Town Hall for stretches. A massive thumbs up goes to Samia, who ran from her coach visit, Jenni, Beth and Karen who all were making their way over to Richmond for another community mission. Absolutely fantastic GoodGymming.
Happy Sunday everyone, lovely to spend part of it with you!
