15 Goodgymers run 5.6km to do 3 tasks for the Community in Colchester

Despite the mercury plummeting we had 15 runners ready to do a good deed, which I had kept secret. I had 3 tasks ready and wanted to see how many people we had before deciding to do all 3. It would be more fun to do all 3 anyway.

We welcomed 4 new runners tonight: Susie, Matt, Jenna and Joseph.

We had such high hopes and anticipation with 3 tasks planned:

1)Some pansy planting for Colchester in Bloom 2)some poster delivery for Colchester hospitals charity and 3)some litter clearing for cbc,

So Ian took a group of 4 to do the pansy planting, and the rest of us made our way to Rowan house to find the litter picking equipment. However, we couldn't find it.... Either its been stolen... Or someone forgot to put it out. No matter, 15 people could plant pansies!

So in a change to the plan we made our way up Balkerne hill to meet with Ian's group, however, they were about to make their way to us as they'd already finished.

DISASTER!

Of course we still had the posters, but this was meant to be an aside to the other tasks. Luckily, Pam came to the rescue, gave us 5 trowels and a few bags of bulbs and told us where we could plant them. We made our way just past the Arts centre and 6 planted bulbs whilst 2 groups lead by Catherine and Chris went to deliver posters.

We were all done in 15 minutes ( we work quickly when we've run around the town a few times!), delivered the trowels back, and made our way through Castle park to the outdoor gym.

We finished off the session with a circuit which included some squats, lunges, jabs and press ups, all to increase strength for running as well as getting us all nice and warm after another outdoor task in the middle of winter!

Well Done Goodgymers - about 200 posters delivered, and Balkerne hill will look very glamorous in the spring.

Next week we will be doing a task for Colchester Borough Homes. Sign up here There's also a DBS doc check party - ie, bring your docs so you can get mission verified either before or after the run next week sign up here
