A whopping 7 GoodGym Yorkies turned out on a Friday afternoon to finish preparing some ground in Ashton Park for a Wildflower meadow.

With half of a patch already dug out on Monday's group run, our task was to finish digging up the turf and rake it over, ready for a local church group to plant wildflower seeds.

Soon, all seven of us were standing on a rapidly decreasing island of turf. In less than 20 minutes all of the turf had been removed and spread around the base of neigbouring hedges. Next up we forked up some of the more stubborn dock roots and raked over the ground, carefully extracting litter and bits of broken glass as we went. As we worked, there was some talk about getting Max to dress up as Poldark. I didn't quite catch the reason why, but it seems like an idea worth noting in the run report for future reference!

While Leanne lamented getting mud on her leggings, meaning that she'd now have to get changed before going to visit her coach, Ellie congratulated herself on not yet getting any mud on her crotch or her bum.

As the task drew to a close Mitch, who was on his first ever mission, asked:

Do we have to play on the climbing frames today? And by have to, I mean can we?

I explained to him that, though GoodGym missions don't involve any mandatory fitness, voluntary fitness is always welcomed!

After taking our standard end-of-task photo and loading the tools back into the car, Mitch sprinted back over to the playground, with the rest of us not too far behind him. We sqautted on a wobble bench, attempted chin ups on monkey bars, climbed, balanced and spun our way around the obstacles before Emma declared that she'd have to leave because 'playing on the playground' is not an acceptable excuse for being late to pick your daughter up from school.

The rest of us left not long after, just as soon as we'd got Max nice and dizzy on the spinning swing!

Max asked if he had to be shirtless to go to the Scything course... and obviously that led to discussion of how he can dress up at Poldark if he wished...
