Report written by Pauline Harrison
On a damp, grey Sunday afternoon, after a last minute call for assistance, Tim and Pauline made their way to Everton Park, where they were met by John of The Friends of Everton Park (FoEP).
A hardy band of helpers had braved the chilly morning air and impending rain, and were assembled, eager to get on with the work ahead; setting up tables, hanging banners and marking out the route, for the runners.
Once the runners began to arrive , they were registered and given their special Blue Run t-shirt. Initially, the rain appeared to have dampened their spirits, as just a handful had turned up. However, before long, the skyline was filled as a sea of blue appeared over the hill of Everton Park.
Tim and I were assigned to our marshalling points and waited for the first runners to appear. Trophies awaited the winners, and medals were ready for all competitors, as the first runners made their way around the course. Tim had been placed at a particularly muddy spot, and did a sterling job to ensure every runner negotiated that part of the course safely.
Joseph Lappin’s mother, Toni had seen the runners off at the start line, and was at the finish line to welcome the victors home.
When the race was done, volunteers helped to tidy up, and the FoEP team toasted another successful run with a well earned beverage...and packet of crisps 😁
A big shout out to Tim, who braved the morning after the night before, to bring some GoodGym help and cheer to the day 👏
