Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
A team of 11 runners tonight at Goodgym Bath with a relatively short run of 3.6k in total, from Bath leisure centre to Manvers Baptist church but this was perfect as it allowed us to spend more time (40 mins ) on the task.
A very warm welcome to Ed tonight on his first group run.
A quick warm up led by Steph outside the leisure centre to check out those ABC`s, then we headed out the long way round so we could take advantage of some sprint drills, lunges and squats perfect strength training for runners and in The beautiful Great Pultney street for a re group before heading to Bath Abbey for some pairing up on the benches with a variety of functional fitness exercises.
We were greeted by Peter the task host, a lovely man who although retired many years ago he still works hard helping the homeless in Bath by providing shelter and running numerous community groups during the day for a variety of ages. He was armed with brushes of wire and bristle so that we could rub down and paint the tired looking railings, it has to be said we were all thankful the rain held off tonight and with a lesson in life skills as he showed the group many practical tips, knowledge we take with us in life is so valuable.
what an amazing guy... pure inspiration
The group worked in perfect harmony on the task splitting into groups with Pascale, Lucy and Ed hard at it with wire brushes and the rest of the team in sync getting tucked into to the
HAMMERITE
eating up those railings bringing them back to there former glory. Ali claimed to be Picasso, not sure about that one but was impressed with the lack of paint left on the pavement and after a group photo at the end with Peter we made our way back the short distance to the leisure centre for a cool down and stretch out on the bridge.
A quick reminder to the group about pairing up with a coach or taking part in missions.
Thank you again everyone for tonight you are all truly amazing people, Pascale for back marking and signing to Lucy who I have to say is running amazingly for week three. everyone for such an amazing job on the task and generally being lovely people and finally for that rain holding off so we could do GOOD in Bath.
see you all next week and don`t forget to spread the word. see you next week for Take Two
