On a very sunny may bank holiday 6 goodgym Leeds runners were joined virtually by a goodgym Greenwich runner to take on the half marathon challenge.
Helen set off first completing a lovely run through Meanwood Valley Trail and around Eccup resovouir in very sunny conditions.
Adam went above and beyond on his very speedy half marathon completing 25.49km in under 2hours! He even went up very steep Post Hill three times in mid day heat of 20 degrees!
Katie set her self the challenge to complete the half marathon over the bank holiday weekend. On Friday she ran 9.38km in very hot conditions, followed by a 6.73km beautiful run through temple newsam gardens in Saturday finishing the final 5.38km run in colder and rainy weather on Sunday.
Liz walked the half marathon over the bank holiday weekend in 3 stages. She has provided the following lovely account of her walk:
Day 1 nearly didn't happen and it’s why it’s so short I almost forgot I was doing the Challenge. A fairly feeble 2.5 miles but it was a start
Day 2 we combined a food order pick up from a small business we support and a walk. The start and end point was the pick up point so we felt it was within lockdown rules. The weather was amazing and hot and the scenery was wonderful even though we were 15 minutes from our home. We stumbled across a training ground for climbing poles and overhead wires 🤔 Phil muttered that ‘he didn’t know telegraph poles needed training’ 😊 A nice 6.6 miles.
Day 3 Cold walk today, Roundhay Park was a lot quieter today, it may have been the wind which nearly blew us off the path at times. Heading back we had to pause briefly for an interview with Sky News 💃. Before completing my 4.6 miles 🤣
So although not your traditional half marathon it was fun and I had a great time doing. It’s also made me determined to train for the real thing next year 😊
Jean-Christophe from GoodGym Greenwich did a very speedy half marathon and included part of the London Marathon in his run on Sunday!
Rob completed his half marathon on Sunday afternoon in the cold weather! He encountered some lovely cows on his scenic run!
I set off at 6:30am on Saturday after waking up at 5am! I wanted to avoid the heat but it was still quite hot even at this early hour! I decided to incorporate the Woodhouse Moore Park Run into my challenge and I had the pleasure of bumping into Helen as she was walking her dogs.
Well done to everyone for completing the half marathon! Thank you so much for joining in this challenge x
