We assembled on this lovely sunny evening at the Hainault station. Those that arrives first started the task of clearing the planters of litter and brown dry bits.
Once the tidying up was complete we got on with the main task - rescuing the planters after a long neglect. James was in charge of filling up watering cans in the men's toilet (as you do) at the station with John doing a great job watering the planters as they were extremely dry so needed multiple soaking.
Sharon in the meantime was responsible for topping up the planters with fresh compost prepping them so that Julia could sow flower seeds, which hopefully start springing up soon for summer display. In the middle of this activity we also created a bit of a mess but Linda and her supermagic mop did a great job cleaning up the overspill.
At this point we started to worry about Sarah Jane who it turned out took a 'scenic' route and discovered a lot of north redbridge before arriving just in time to trim the plants and tidy them all up.
Once we finished all the tasks, we took a customary group photo and divided into a walking and running groups. the runners ran 5k tonight and met with the walkers after a couple of loops around the Fairlop Waters lake. With John safely on his way home from Fairlop station, the rest walked back to the station - still in the warm sunshine!
