Waterside Squad
11 GoodGymers made their way 2.5km to help the Richmond Council in Richmond.
- Monday, 11th of July 2022
- Led by Sam Jones
With heatwave temperatures of 30C+ earlier in the afternoon, GoodGym Richmond’s two adopted flower beds by the River Thames in Richmond were looking very sun blasted and parched. The focus of tonight’s mission was urgent watering.
Jack led a Group Run from The Tap Tavern leading ‘Rehydration Squad’ Susan, Jack, Sam, JP and Monika who were joined by Anita, Ken, Lucy and Salwa at The Arcade for a very productive hour of watering, weeding, watering, raking, watering, dead-heading, watering, turning the compost heap, watering, removing spent poppies, watering, litter picking and more watering.
With water water everywhere we were glad of a drop to drink at the end, heading to The White Cross on the Richmond Riverside for our monthly GoodGym Richmond Social where we were joined by other GG runners old and new. Spilling out of the pub onto the Thames Path, it was an idyllic sunset spot .
Double Mission Ribbons to Ken and Lucy who spent time watering the new hedgerow at Chitty Hole on the edge of Petersham Meadow before joining the Group Mission in Buccleuch Gardens. And good news/bad news from Area Activator Sam who has received a promotion (hurrah) and will have to step down from his Richmond AA role (boo) but will be replaced by his wife and fellow runner Liz (hurrah).
