It's been a few weeks since I've seen Mrs J so it was nice to be able to fit in a visit today. I was worried she might have forgotten me, and while she had not remembered that I would be coming, she knew who I was and was really pleased to see me.

I noticed a hanging wooden family tree that had appeared on the chimney breast, and although I didn't want to photograph it as it had details of her family on it, it was a great conversation starter. It wasn't knew but her nephew-in-law had dug it out from a cupboard and hung it on display for her.

While she didn't have any children of her own, she was happy to tell me all about her sister's children her nephew and niece, their children her great nephews, and their children - the great greats. While she doesn't see much of any of them she is still fond of them. She talked about how ,such she had wanted her own children, but sadly it wasn't to be and her husband had not wanted to adopt.

The mood was then lifted by the arrival of Sooty, her cat, who is very choosy about when he makes an appearance, but he'd timed it just right today, and this sparked a conversation not only about sooty, but about the other pets she had had in her time.

Before long it was time for me to go, and I left her with a smile on her face and looking forward to the next visit.

NB - the photo is not her actual family tree but a similar image.
