Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Saul Muldoon
It was back to the Ravensknowle Memorial Garden once again this week for GoodGym Huddersfield (and also a continuation with the Paul Simon inspired report titles). As ever there was work to be done in the Memorial Garden. Ann Denham and her team of volunteers work hard to keep the flowerbeds looking tidy, but are always glad of a little help from GoodGym.
Six eager runners this week, including newbie Mark Donnellan, and also Helen Rutherford who was returning for just her second group task. They were joined by regulars Kati Law, Ben Godfrey, Heather Wilshaw Jones and of course myself for the steady 2K run up to Ravensknowle Park.
As usual Ann was there with her gardening tools and swiftly set us to work weeding the flower beds. Amongst the first of the vegetation to be removed from the beds was a rosemary bush that had become too big for its surroundings, and Ben set about attacking this whilst the rest of us tackled some smaller weeds.
Such a beautiful evening helped make weeding easy and almost an hour later we had made a significant dent in the task, and the garden was looking a lot better. After such hard work it was time for tea and biscuits in the hut (one of the reasons we love jobs at Ravensknowle). On the run back to the Stadium we encountered a grass fire on the very dry Kilner Bank, so performed our second good deed of the night by dialling 999 for the fire service.....all in a night’s work for GoodGym!
Thanks to all the GoodGymmers this week, as ever your efforts are much appreciated.
