Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Sam Ollason
It was a bright and chilly autumn morning and 8 GoodGym volunteers ran to Prior Park Landscape Garden to help improve their local community.
The beautiful views and rich architecture in the grounds form an important part of Bath's history, and they are now maintained by The National Trust. The grounds welcome upwards of 50,000 tourist a year, so it is important to keep everything in great condition!
Bath and Bristol ... UNITE!
It was great to welcome some runners from GoodGym Bristol along for the Mission and we hope to see more of them again soon!
The Cabinet
We teamed up with a National Trust Ranger and some other volunteers to weed 'the cabinet'. This is a large circular area covered in gravel and surrounded by nature. For hundreds of years people have come to gaze upon the water that cascades down next to the cabinet.
This part of the garden was recently restored and was featured the Channel 4 Time Team program. The area had become overgrown over the summer and the gravel bed was compacted and disturbed. We worked together to weed and rake the area to give it a makeover.
Thanks to the teams at Prior Park Landscape Garden and the National Trust Volunteer group for this fantastic opportunity. We hope to work with you again soon!
