Spring has definitely sprung in Hodgkin Park this morning! It was a beautiful day for a small but perfectly formed group consisting of Ranger Mike, (or since he was on his own today, the Lone Ranger!), local resident volunteer Neil and I to spend a couple of hours working in the park.
The first task was in the lower half of the park. We cleared the weeds from a three-tiered flower bed and scattered some flower seeds. I was intrigued by the bee bar - a block of coconut fibre with seeds embedded in it that we broke up and scattered across the beds. Hopefully later in the year we’ll see a riot of colour attracting lots of bees!
We then moved to the upper part of the park to carry on a job that Mike had started a few weeks ago. A very neat task of clearing the edge of one side of the path whilst also clearing the overgrown grass from the other side of the path and moving sods of turf to the first side of the path so everything looked so much better! Great teamwork in action!
We’ll be back with Mike in Hodgkin Park in three weeks time - rumour has it there’ll be gate painting!
Happy Sunday everyone!
