Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
A big welcome to first time GoodGymmers (first of many of course) Ariana, Emma, Gemma, Jen, Tanya, Leigh and Rachel
Let's get the important stuff out the way first. Tonight's debate was concerned with finding the best ABBA song. Thanks to Amelia for suggesting.
Waterloo was the clear winner with three votes. Although first timer Gemma didn't exactly say it was her favourite, but rather her least least favourite. But as any grammarian will tell you that is a yes vote.
Andy was quite keen on the big piano chords in Dancing Queen, and also regretful that he admitted this. Rachel, a fellow Swede, felt that it was vital to support the ABBA cause and also cast a vote for this song, putting it in second place.
Laura liked the Spanish one (not Chiquitita)
Danson is such a keen ABBA fan that he complained we hadn't been playing any.
And Jen started suffering some ABBA flashbacks - something to do with a catsuit and a school play, so we left the debate there.
Anyway, it was back to WPCA this week. After a few dynamic stretches on the crescent Andy led a faster group who interestingly took longer to get there than the other group (scenic route?)
We were met once again by Paul, who had lovingly arranged wooden chairs and pre-cut some sheets of sandpaper for us. After Steve pointed out that going with the grain is ESSENTIAL, we stuck on some music and got sanding (all apart from Simon who just faffed around pretending to help people while munching on chocolate biscuits and messing around up ladders).
28 minutes and 47 seconds later Steve - our star sweeper - zoomed round with a broom and there was just time for a quick biscuit before heading outside to spend a couple of minutes warming back up, including a drill that involved elbowing a partner in the palms of their hands (all very technical, I promise), and a little discussion about pendulums (T = 2pi*SQRT(L/g))
We played a little game that involved chasing down other people (very useful practice for races or if somebody steals your handbag) and then Andy led another faster group back while the rest of discussed how women were better at pacing than men (debate for a future week? We really should have a running-related one soon) before a final dash up the hill.
Great job from all. We deserve a little treat
