Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Emdad Rahman
I met with Ken, Steven, Terry at Shandy Park as part of Goodgym volunteering.
We do love to combine our cardio with a good deed. Small or big, our activities at Goodgym akways make an impact.
Today one of the locals from the Stepney Shahjalal Jame Masjid behind us passed on thanks to #GoodGym and Friends of Tower Hamlets Cemetery Park and said how much he was looking forward to enjoying the fruits of our Labour.
I was a bit tongue tied due to the cold and simply told him that it was our total pleasure. I thanked him for his kind comments.
There were some families with their young children who popped in for a bit and it’s really super seeing how these activities are engaging one and all.
As the winter cold sets in and we lose daylight hours this is an excellent and worthy activity to connect and contribute.
It is hoped that our community will be inspired to do their but to make the neighbourhood a more pleasant and prosperous place to work, love, volunteer!
I got through planting quite a few snowdrops this afternoon for the wildflower meadow and really enjoyed working solo, focussing on a task and surveying a job well done!

The Friends are an independent charity responsible for managing Tower Hamlets Cemetery Park, a unique and vital nature reserve and heritage site in East London. Tower Hamlets Cemetery Park offers everyone a breathing space in the heart of East London. This woodland cemetery is a unique place of transformation: a people’s cemetery, a place for remembrance, a sanctuary for humans as well as nature, a place for festivals, field studies and forest schools. Always changing with the seasons, it is rooted in the history of the East End, a place of rich heritage that is full of possibilities and freedom for all.
