Alys, Anne, Kirsty and Nadia met at Goldworth Park to help the Rotary Club raise funds for various charities.
Before arriving for three different shifts at the entrance of Waitrose, Alys had completed the Woking parkrun. Nadia, whose aim was to finished the Homewood parkrun in less than 30 minutes before Christmas, did it in 28 minutes despite the muddy and hilly course. We are all impressed and delighted for her. Anne ran a 8kms course in the shape of a reindeer.
During our "shifts", we all tried to bring some smiles to the shoppers entering or exiting Waitrose! Some of us danced, used the buckets as kettle bells, complimenting the children on their festive attire or anything really, just to make the parents stop! We had lots of opportunities to chat with acquaintances who willingly helped to fill up our buckets. We observed that most gentlemen accepted the sweets provided by the Rotary Club while ladies declined our kind offer. We managed (especially Anne who cannot face learning about new IT skills) to take card payments.
All in all the time went quickly despite the cold and wet weather. Most people joined in the Christmas feel, helped by the festive music playing! 🎶 Fa, la, la, la, la!
Both Kirsty and Nadia will have to do burpees and press-ups as they did not wear their festive red tutus!
You might want to join us tomorrow either marshalling at junior parkrun or taking part in the monthly 10 kms run at Polesdon Lacey. Otherwise we might see you on Christmas day at Homewood parkrun!
Happy festive running everyone!
