Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Wilson
This mornings shift was volunteered by Paul, John and Sarah, it was a very rainy morning so Paul kindly offered to take the outside task of "Church back door" and was soon kept company by John once he had completed his induction. This left a very happy and dry Sarah to assist in the waiting room.
The flow of people coming to be vaccinated was constant and again the opportunity to chat with them was a lovely opportunity. One lady was celebrating her 70th Birthday and said she never thought that receivig a vaccination on her birthday would ever be such a welcome gift! Her 19 year old grand-daughter had also saved up her money and bought her and her Nan a holiday to Corfu in 2022, and was hopeful that the pandemic would have gone by then 🙂
Things come in three's they say and that was true of this morning - the kettle in the Church was too much for the electrics and fuses were blown, this took the waiting room down to only 2 heaters 🥶. An anxious lady who had not been outside during lockdown unfortunately took a fall in the road as she was leaving, but staff were quick to assist, she was probably a bit bruised but ok. Then there was a drama in the Church Car Park, this involved an unhappy man in a van who hit a car in his rush to drive away.....he didnt stop but luckily Paul got his number plate and the Police were informed.
John and Paul did a great job of assisting people across the car park in the rain, sheltering them with umbrellas. At times there was some great banter going on, making people laugh.
158 people passed through the Church to be vaccinated 🤩
