The Young Carers Team at the York Carers Centre have received some funding to provide Zoom activities for the young carers they work with and have put together a package of equipment (yoga mats and water bottles) to supplement the activities. The sessions for young carers aged 5 to 18 are designed to give them a break from caring responsibilities and provide a way to maintain their own wellbeing.

We were asked to deliver 14 packs to addresses across the city.

As this was a great opportunity for GoodGym to get involved with, five of us signed up to make it happen.

Michal went to pick some of the packs up for him and Louise to distribute. Later that day, with two yoga mats securely attached to his rucksack, he hit the road on his bike to deliver to two addresses in Rawcliffe.

Outstanding Louise took 5 packs for young people in Tang Hall, Strensall, Osbaldwick and Huntington. One of those addresses has proven difficult to find, but we never give up and after receiving further details from the York Carers Centre project coordinator Louise went back to succesfull deliver the package the following day.

Legendary Leanne set off one her bike to deliver one package to Rufforth during her lunch break, meanwhile amazing Jenna braved through the snow to deliver 3x parcels to Foxwood, Woodthorpe and South Bank.

Lastly, fantastic Mitchell cycled to Chapelfields, Acomb and Holgate delivering and/or hiding under wooden pallets 3x yoga mats and water bottles.

Young carers now have all the items neccesary to fully participate in the Zoom sessions set for them to help boost their wellbeing.

Well done crew!
