Wow, what a good task, thanks Vic! Could we find landmarks similar to ones we know Coventry for? Well, you all certainly gave it a really good shot and ticked off all the boxes. GoodGym Coventry runners ran and scavenged far and wide and even helped doing good deeds on their way, well done Becka for reuniting the dog with their owner. Here are some of the highlights: James sent in his images from his home town, we miss you James- interesting transport choice :) Vickie, I really enjoyed your countryside views. Deb, well done for running the furthest. Allan, I liked your white elephant. Lil, the rabbits are so lovely and I'm glad you have explored Coundon Park, it is one of my favourite places. Becka, your toy animal too was a treat. Vic, so lovely to see a little more of your home town too. Laura, the blossom in your photos were lovely Andrew, found them all with Lady Godiva, Coat of Arms Bridge, Stivichall Common Memeorial, St James' Church, Horse statue and a bike :)
Next week, can you run in all the roads in your local area?

Well, Happy New Year! It was great tonight to welcome 4 new runners to GoodGym Coventry, it was great to meet Becka, Amy,Anika and Jonathan. Tonight 15 members of GoodGym Coventry ran 5km to clear the paths of the canal.
First, we headed to bridge 4 , once there, groups were made ensuring enough lights, bins and grabbers. Over the Christmas period, lots of rubbish had gathered including some KS2 revision notes, a bag, many cans and lots of poo bags and we spotted the odd bit of wildlife . Working together, the canal paths were soon litter free and the area around bridge 3 was given a spruce up too. We did thta good a job, a local resident stopped and came to thank us for teh hard work we were doing :) We also took group photos so we could see Allan's new camera in action.
Running back to the canal, we chatted and caught up on exciting news from the festive period. Outside Drapers, we completed some strength work to help build our leg muscles ready for the year ahead. As it was James's last run with us before he returns to near Hull so we stayed behind to catch up and bid him a fond farewell.

well, what a lovely way to end our last run of the year.
Kevin was king of Secret Santa and introduced an extra element of 'stick or twist' to the present giving.
Thanks all- it was great that we had some donations for the food bank too :)

It was a cold, misty night, when the stars were bright and the lights were shining, shining in the streets.
12 GoodGym runners headed to Eric Williams House to chat and bring festive cheer to the residents. Having found the Christmas lights in town and the surrounding streets, we brought our bright and cheerful personalities to the care home for residents with Dementia.
On our arrival, the residents were ready for a sing a long so we dutifully provided this. Spotify and google came to our rescue with music and lyrics and we serenaded the group. It was great to discover that more than a few of the members of GoodGym Coventry can actually carry a tune- thanks Susanne and Graeme and the rest of the crew also sounded pretty good!
Mince pies and biscuits were shared with the residents and we headed back through the mist to Drapers.
Don't forget we will next meet in 2 weeks but keep your eyes peeled for other Community Missions or races. Congratulations Muntasir on running your 10th run with us!
Merry Christmas and a happy new year.
Thanks for your support in 2019 and all the best for 2020! Liz x

Well, that was a night of two firsts. But let's start at the important stuff. Tonight 9 GoodGym Coventry runners including Graeme who came for his first run, ran 9km to Carriers of Hope to help with the final preparations and warehouse sorting for the Christmas party.
As it was my 50th Good deed, it was the first outing of the GoodGym Coventry 50 badge- thanks team! The heavens opened as we were gathering the badge was stored safely away for the task. Having dodged puddles and avoided being drenched by cars, we were still pretty damp when we arrived at the task where the rain lightened a little. However, we arrived to find that the gates to the industrial units had been locked, but with our hosts stuck on the inside with no key and us on the outside. Whilst we waited to find out who had the key and how it was going to get to the unit, the GoodGym Coventry team did some slight incline sprints (almost hills). Time was ticking on, still no sign of the key. At the last moment, before we were about to return to Drapers, the key appeared, after the holder had leapt out of the bath to bring it to us. When Katie mentioned that some of the lifting she would do before heading home, we knew that we could delay our return and support Katie moving the gifts to their new location upstairs. Swiftly, the human chain was formed, Lil and Kevin scurried to the top and Graeme, Meera, Allan, Laura, Muntasir and James lifted the new donations in tehir chain to the top. All donations moved, we returned to Drapers and stretched. See you all next week for the (optional Secret Santa) Social and Group run :) Liz x

On a unseasonably warm evening, 13 GoodGym runners headed to the canal to clear the rubbish. As a treat, we headed to bridge 4 first and headed back to bridge 3. This was a good decision as there was plenty of litter, clothing, cans and handbags to be found. Not to be outdone by Allan's hi-vis, Laura showed off her new face paints (I can't think of a better word, sorry). As we had a mixed walking and running groups at certain points we completed squats and lunges to regroup. We then ran to the cathedral to complete some relay sprints. It is Alan's birthday on Friday, so Happy Birthday Alan. Thanks again for a lovely evening, Liz x

Tonight heralded another week of painting as 16 GoodGym runners ran to Foleshill Community Centre to support Feeding Coventry. We also welcomed John from Birmingham this week. On our way to the centre, we all enjoyed getting in some energetic reps by the Canal Basin. Well done everyone. We also enjoyed running through the streets of Foleshill, enjoying the sights and sounds as many people from the Sikh community were celebrating tonight. As we were familiar with the staff and task, we all got to work quickly, with groups painting furniture and shelving and others giving the toilets a paint too. Our runners enjoyed a quick samosa (or 2) before running back to Drapers. It has been fantastic to see the progress we have made over the weeks to this building and can’t wait to see it coming back to life for the local community very soon. There will be a Community Mission on the 30th November where GoodGym will return to help put the finishing touches on the project. Sign up here.
Lil :)
