Another Tuesday, another wonderful evening of doing good and getting fit! This week, we returned to the Care4Calais' East London storage facility, continuing our mission to transform a mountain of generous donations into neatly sorted boxes of clothing, ready to reach those who need them most.
Thanks to our collective efforts over the past few sessions, we’ve made some serious headway—what once resembled a fabric avalanche is now an increasingly organised space. This week saw more great sartorial discoveries, with some standout pieces that would make even the most seasoned thrifters jealous!
Of course, no GoodGym session would be complete without our Random Weekly Question. Courtesy of Graham, we asked: What’s your favourite game? The responses were as varied as ever, ranging from the classic (tennis, football) to the less conventional (Sushi Go, Ticket to Tobago, Frogger and the intense long-term activity of trying to complete the parkrun app).
A huge well done to everyone who came along and put in the hard work. See you next time for more running and doing good - I think we've got a task lined up at Chandos Rd, details to emerge in due course...

A return trip to Chandos Road which had a lot less leaves than our last visit.
This time was a litter picking session.
Hilary led the team in their run from the Print House while Kevin and I took a walking option as we had the litter pickers and bags supplied by Newham council. We split up and headed to three areas of the play park to ensure the children have a clean litter free area to play.

Last night, the GoodGym Newham team gathered to support Care4Calais in sorting clothing donations for people seeking asylum across East London. It was a great session filled with teamwork and care, and we made a real dent in the pile of bags that we were tasked with sorting out.
A special mention to Gina, who joined us for her first-ever GoodGym session! It was fantastic to have you on board, we hope you enjoyed it too - and you'll be able to make use of future sessions to help with your training for Hackney Half!
Also big thanks to Adam for getting us in...
Well done everyone! We should be back there in the next few weeks, but in the meantime we've got some litter picking lined up for next week with the Friends of Chandos Road Gardens - sign up here.

We've been doing quite a bit of flyering recently, so much so that we must be pretty much experts at it... This evening's session came earlier than expected courtesy of cancellation from Newham Hospital. It probably is a tad chilly for gardening at the moment, so hopefully we can pick up with them again in the New Year. And at least with flyering, you get to keep moving! It also meant we were able to accommodate Mabel the dog in her last session with us for now, but hope it's not too long before she might be able to join us again.
Said flyers were to promote local volunteering opportunities with Food Cycle in case you missed it - they've got a new location just down the road from us in Plaistow and are looking for folks to help with their community dining experiences. Read more about them here.
Shout out to Hitesh for making it - it's been a while, so it was great to see you again. We do hopefully have at least one indoor festive task lined up this side of the Christmas, details to be confirmed as soon as we have them and next week we're back up the canal to Hackney Marsh Adventure Playground - sign up here.

With more volunteers, FoodCycle will always be able to keep their meals running and provide delicious, hot meals to the community!
