Kingston upon Thames Report written by Rachel White
We had a lovely group run to Kingston Surplus Food Hub. It's a new initiative set up by Kingston Voluntary Action to help tackle food waste and poverty in the area. A significant amount of food is bought in by supermarkets and wasted so the idea is to set up a kitchen to absorb some of these ingredients and turn it into delicious food for the community. It's not up and running yet and we were asked to help to prepare the kitchen and the outside area to get it up to a certain standard - and so we did.
Claire, Emily, Jana, Rachel and Emma all tackled to the kitchen - picking sticky glue marks off the walls and scrubbing them down. There were three rooms in total but the amount of work that was needed meant that we only managed two rooms out the three. Dave, Luke and Kieran were out in the car park - moving branches and green waste. A big tidy up by all.
So much to do and the hour went quickly by. We had a great laugh doing it - we'll be back to help in a couple of months.

Kieran O'Connor earned their community cape by completing their first community mission.
Kieran completed a community mission. Instead of watching TV or lying in bed, Kieran was out there making their community a better place to be. For making that choice they have earned the community cape.

Back to Hogsmill after a short winter break and straight to the usual task- armed with new battery, Kieron tackled the hedge cutting using an electric strimmer with Petra using manual cutters for the hard to get bits by the fence. In the meantime, Farzeen and Emily levelled a patch of dirt where we moved the kids sandpit. As usual, all under the close supervision of the ever so lovely Brian! See you in March.

Ten GoodGymers geared up this evening at Full Cycle, ready to put their cycling skills to good use, some even arrived on two wheels!
Upstairs we had a wheelie good success moving bikes and then found extra jobs taking off tyres and cutting the spokes off wheels - recycling where possible. Downstairs the team were kept busy recycling inner tubes and cleaning bikes - wiping down frames until they gleamed. The spare parts salvaged and recycling efforts proves that we're not just about fitness, but also about being eco-conscious.
It was a great effort from everyone, and Full Cycle were really grateful for our help. A big shout out to all the GoodGymers who came along. For a moment we almost had a Goodgym Merton takeover… but in Rachel's absence we tried not to poach everyone and of course we are just a big Goodgym happy family getting involved and supporting charities and organisations whenever we can ;)!
