It was great to be back in the GoodGym group run world - though the 25-plus degree heat adds an extra challenge!
We all met up in Queen Square, in our normal corner, feeling like old friends getting together.
Maria swapped to our other task as another run leader was poorly so four of us set out for Dame Emily Park at a fast walk having a good old natter.
With pro litter pickers and lots of energy we were tasked with the basketball court and surrounds and had soon filled bags and, in a very meta world, found a broken set if (inferior, not StreetMaster Pro) litter pickers!
Six bags filled, new street art admired, we returned to Queen Square and discovered a new Thatchers called Green Goblin AND workout's new café bar having a soft launch tonight - lots of investigating to be done before the next group run!

The six o'clockers took over with a smaller bed to cover with "only" 2 tonnes of sand compared to the 4 tonnes of the 5 o'clockers, with increasing numbers of onlookers/supporters sitting in the evening sunshine on College Green.
Which meant far more artistic time after the heavy lifting of the Initial Spread, combined with the rectangular frame, for Sand Art.
A bright sunshine in the sunshine was followed by an interpretation of GG logo was declared as success with maximum points awarded.
Huge thanks to those who donated to the post-Greta fund to repair College Green back before the pandemic - we look forward to the flowering of 500sqm of wildflowers in the heart of our city. And aching a bit after the hard work.

We had much drier conditions for our trip to the lakeside this Sunday. We gathered our tools and headed down in an excellent formation to keep scraping/digging/picking the weeds at the side of the lake.
With help from some extra members we got loads more done, it is looking better every time! Plenty of weed-filled wheelbarrows later, we headed back up the steps for some cordial and plans of branching out to wildflower bed-ing next week. Happy Sunday!
