Here's tonight's lowdown from Saoirse at Open Orchard:
Yesterday was fantastic, 6 people turned up and they absolutely whizzed through tasks that would have taken us a lot longer. They weeded all around the ornamental garden (I need to get an after photo!), turned the compost (this requires a strong back, of which none of us have so we were very grateful for this!), watered the much needed flowers and did a thorough litter pick.
Great work everyone, sounds like a good time had by all!

Last night Las and Sarah came down and in Saoirse's own words: "were great, we got loads done!"
Attached are some photos including a before and after.
The guys helped prep a wildflower section, did some weeding and Lasso did some much needed watering!
This is the start of a blossoming relationship between GG Lambeth and Open Orchard so keep an eye out for a new monthly session on Sundays followed by a trip to the pub / coffee and a chat.

Saoirse earned their community cape by completing their first community mission.
Saoirse completed a community mission. Instead of watching TV or lying in bed, Saoirse was out there making their community a better place to be. For making that choice they have earned the community cape.

Tonight's community mission took both brains and brawl, which thankfully Saoirse, Paul and Adam could provide as I have very little of either. Andrea (the task owner from GROAD) came out to warn us about the scale of the task in advance of our start time, with a pep talk to not lose motivation when we saw how many books we were dealing with. And even though the task was every bit as big as she described, we made a solid dent in neatly re-stacking the books into another storage unit ready to be used. In the process we sorted out any loose papers to be recycled & some furniture to be dealt with by the donator, so it's saved the books from being dumped on the side of the road (as was their previous destiny). ♻️
The donator of all of these books had been telling Andrea about each book before we arrived, as apparently they'd read all of them. In the pile we found a few items of note...
...and found out that for both Saoirse and Paul this was their first Goodgym task in a couple of years. Welcome back, great to have you back on board! 🎉
