Feeling hot, hot, hot!! ☀️🔥

Saturday 12th July

Written by Kimberley Powell (She/her)

Mary and Kim returned to the Cornerstone Patch in Hamworthy, this time to plant tomato plants.

It was a scorching hot day so they took it slow with lots of watering of the plants.

It was great to see the garden so green and full of butterflies and bees in such an urban area.

Meeting at Friends of Hamworthys Parks ‘shed’ Quarters

Saturday 28th June

Written by Kimberley Powell (She/her)

Francis, James and Kim were clearing the overgrown paths at Hamworthy Park that have been making it particularly difficult for wheelchair users to enjoy the beautiful park.

They cleared many buckets of dirt and grass and Francis even used his ‘eco broom’ to make sure the paths were especially tidy!

We’ll be arranging to go back there over the rest of the summer to continue with more of the paths

Gazebo Fun!

Saturday 14th June

Written by Kimberley Powell (She/her)

Building a flat pack has been know to cause arguments but there was nothing but good team work and fun had when building the gazebo for Forest Holme Hospices fund raising event.

With no instructions and just a pile of bolts and parts of frame it may have taken a few initial mistakes to work it out in no time at all the gazebo was up and ready for the event!

The public could write a note to a missed loved one and tie it to the gazebo. The gazebo was then going to be moved to the garden at the hospice for the summer.

Being the last to cross the line for Junior Parkrun

Sunday 15th June

Written by Kimberley Powell (She/her)

It was a hot and sunny morning at the beautiful Upton Country Park for the Junior Parkrun.

I walked, ran and at one point even skipped my way around the 2k course trying to keep up with the speedy, enthusiastic runners, ensuring none of the participants aged between 4 and 14 (and their grown ups!) didn't get left behind.

Pretty fun at Pretty Muddy

Saturday 31st May

Written by Kimberley Powell (She/her)

Francis and Kim were there to marshal for Race for Life, Francis at Marshal point 1 and Kim at marshal point 2.

Their job was keep to the runners, walkers and joggers of the 10k, 5k and 3k route safe and heading on the right path whilst cheering them on.

After those events Francis was stationed at the ‘Mission Obstacle’ for the Pretty Muddy event that saw the runners dive under a net, crawling through sand to the end of the obstacle whilst Francis had the delight of throwing water onto the hot runners!

Thank you to Race for Life with Cancer Research Uk for hosting the event and well done Francis for attending his first Goodgym mission.

We’ve ‘bin’ waiting to share the news of our hard work!

Sunday 18th May

Written by Kimberley Powell (She/her)

On a very hot, sunny day on the south coast of Poole Ruth, Emma, Sophie and Kim along with other volunteers on behalf of Surfers Against Sewage helped collecting 8.7kg in a mixture rubbish. They even had the start of a new outfit with the socks, bra and gloves they found!

This event was in partnership with Surfers Against Sewage in their Million Mile Beach Clean and they certainly clocked a few miles towards this goal.
